Millersville's baseball team, which won the PSAC East and reached the NCAA Division II Championship for the second time in school history in 201, is creating the first Baseball Buddies Kids Club. Kids who sign up will receive a welcome packet, membership card, birthday card and monthly newsletter. Signing up also allows Baseball Buddies of the Marauders to participate in Baseball Buddy Day at Marauder Park, a meet-the-team picnic, being a bat/ball boy/girl for a day, placement in monthly prize drawings and announcing an inning at a game. Boys and girls from eighth grade and younger qualify for Millersville's Baseball Buddies Kids Club. Cost to sign up is $25 per year. Membership term runs from Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2012. Sierra Club-Lancaster Group's second annual Polar Bear 5k Trail Run/Hike will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, in Lancaster County Central Park. Proceeds will support efforts to end global warming, the reason polar bears and other creatures are at risk of extinction. Track and Field
The Millersville track and field coaching staff, with the help of some of the top instructors in the area, will host the Elite Technique Track & Field Camp on July 8-11. The camp is for boys and girls in grades seven-12. Track athletes at the camp receive specialized instruction in all throws, jumps, pole vault, sprints, hurdles and multi-events. Each day at the camp includes three event sessions, weight room work and plyometric or video sessions. Campers can stay on campus ($350) or commute ($285). Ephrata High Wrestling Team, celebrating its 50th anniversary, will host alumni day Saturday, Jan. 7, at Ephrata High School. Ephrata varsity team will host Hempfield. Save the Date for June Recital
Our annual dance recital will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 15th and 16th, at the Hempfield High School Performing Arts Center in Landisville. Tentative show time is 6:30pm each day. Student arrival is tentatively set at 5:00pm. All students will perform in both shows.
End of Session Schedule:
June 2 – Last Day of Classes
June 4, 5, 6 – Recital Rehearsals at the studio starting at 5:30pm
June 7, 9 – Recital Pictures (Thursday 4:30-9:00pm, Saturday 9:00am-4:00pm)
June 11, 12 – Recital Rehearsals at the high school starting at 5:30pm
June 13 – Tech night at the high school by invitation
June 14 – Full dress rehearsal at the high school 5:30-10:00pm
June 15, 16 – Recital (same show each night)
(All above dates are firm and times are close but tentative at this point)
Each class will perform a routine in the show. Some classes will be combined and may require special class rehearsals in the Spring. Each class will not attend all of the rehearsals scheduled above – a rehearsal schedule will be available once of the order of the show is determined. But for now, please keep all dates available as rehearsal attendance is mandatory. A Rehearsal Schedule will be included in a recital handbook that will be handed out at the end of March/beginning of April. Likewise with the recital pictures, classes will be scheduled for pictures throughout the two days and a picture schedule will be in the recital handbook.
Class Attendance
It is important for each student to attend classes regularly. The success of a class depends on each student. Regular attendance is required to achieve perfection and to progress as a class. If a student accumulates six or more absences in a class from February 1st to the recital, he/she will not be permitted to perform with that class in the recital, and any recital expenses, including costume fees, up to that point will not be refunded. Please consider any other commitments you may have outside this studio from February 1st to show time. Also take this into consideration when planning your vacations.

Recital costumes are being ordered this week. Once ordered, costume companies will NOT refund a cancelled costume.

Upcoming Events
Our Company 1, Company 2, Intensive Training, and some of our Level 3 & 4 students will be attending the Tremaine Dance Convention in Washington, DC, on January 15th and 16th. They will be attending master dance classes in all genres with top choreographers from around the country. Company 1 and Company 2 will be competing with their Jazz, Tap and Lyrical routines that they performed in last June’s recital. Good luck to all dancers!
On January 28th and 29th, the same students will attend the Excel In Motion Dance Convention at the Marriott Convention Center in downtown Lancaster. Again, students will attend master classes with top performers from the “So You Think You Can Dance” TV show. Saturday evening, the staff will perform an Exhibition Show for all convention attendees. ** One of our students has registered for this convention but is unable to attend. If your Level 3 or above student (enrolled in tap and jazz) would like to take her place and reimburse her for the fees, please let us know. We will talk to you about the convention fee. **
